| J/psi prompt and non-prompt cross sections in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV |

We present the inclusive and prompt J/psi production cross sections in pp collisions at 7 TeV, as measured with the CMS experiment, differentially as a function of the J/psi transverse momentum, up to 30 GeV/c, and in several rapidity ranges. The fraction of J/psi cross section due to b-hadron decays is determined from a fit to the decay length distribution of the J/psi events, and shown as a function of J/psi pT, in several rapidity ranges. We will also show comparisons between the measurements and several model calculations, for both the prompt and the non-prompt J/psi cross sections. We end the talk with perspectives regarding the measurement of J/psi production in Pb-Pb collisions, to be made by CMS during the LHC heavy-ion runs. |
